Kisaki could hear the dreaded oncoming of footsteps down the stairs. They echoed around the hollow concrete structure with horific foreboding. The only other sound was the quiet whimpering of the terrified Utada.|
Kisaki knew he couldn't run away now. Whatever happened, at least he had tried to save Emiru. He had done something. He just didn't know if it would be enough.
There was a glimpse of light from the stairs. Kisaki could make out two people, but as the light was coming from them, not towards them, he couldn't tell who was who. He hoped one was Emiru. If there were in fact 3 enemies down there with him...
He tried to shake the thoughts out of his head. He shouldn't be thinking of them as enemies.
The light landed on Utada, who pointed over at Kisaki. His heart leapt as the light seemed to move in slow motion across the floor towards him.
And then it hit him, with blinding force again. His left eye was playing up, everything going cloudy. Bright lights and Kisaki never went together well. "What are you doing here?" said an authoratative voice from behind the light.
Raising an arm to sheild his eyes from the light, Kisaki struggled to think up an answer. Eventually, he realised that any lie wouldn't be any better than the truth, and would most likely lead to more conflict. "I'm looking for my... friend, Emiru"
Kisaki had trouble with the last word. A simple statement in itself, but Kisaki had never been able to tell anyone he had a friend before. Maybe he was sounding too big-headed?
"Kisaki!" cried out an extremely scared voice. A voice that wavered on the air, slowly hitting Kisaki with more force then the light had. A smile exploded across Kisaki's face. "Emiru!" he cried out, making as if to get up and run over.
He stopped dead in his tracks.
Something about the situation wasn't right. Emiru would have run to him by now, and wouldn't have hid behind the light. Something was very very strange.
"What's going on?" Kisaki managed to ask, feeling deep down that he wasn't going to like the answer.
